If you didn’t feel welcomed by the new year with my recent Steak Pie post, then here the healthier option!
Given I am pretty sure we have all spent the past two weeks eating far too much food and drinking far too much alcohol, I know I am not alone when looking at the numbers on the scales and feeling a sense of existential dread.
We’re not going to go into the details of how much weight I gained over the festive period, but let’s just say I’m only 5’2 so a lot. After the two day cooking spree that was Christmas, I essentially refused to cook anything or move from the sofa, so needless to say there’s been a lot of bad bad food in my life the past week!
However, now that we’re in the new year it’s time for us (and by us I mean me) to examine our lives and lifestyles and get rid of the old and usher in the new – such as getting rid of old weight and ushering in a sexy new dress or two for summer!
The best way to start with a new improved healthy lifestyle is of course a healthier diet or detox, but this isn’t that. This is a drink to help boost your immune system and overall health, so although it’s not a detox drink, it’s still good for you, especially during winter and flu season. I am sure you’ve all read about the health benefits of Golden Tea as it’s trending everywhere at the moment, so let’s just get to the recipe!
What Will I Need?
1 cup milk (dairy, coconut, almond, not soy)
1 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1-2 tsp honey (to taste)
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan over a medium heat.
- Heat through until the milk starts to simmer and froth at the sides.
- Reduce to low heat and allow to infuse for about 5 minutes.
- Strain through a fine sieve into a mug and enjoy.
